Are you looking for the most natural way to replace missing teeth? At SmileCOS Dentistry, we are proud to offer our patients dental implants, the most realistic replacement for missing teeth. While the implant procedure does require surgery and a few appointments, the final results provide a realistic-looking smile and the ability to eat your favorite foods.
Understanding Dental Implants
Dental implants are more than a fake tooth. They start with a ‘root,’ which is a titanium screw. Our dentists perform this surgical procedure. After we extract your teeth, we will surgically implant the titanium screws into your jawbone. The titanium then fuses with your jawbone over a period of a few months. Once the titanium becomes a part of your jawbone, we can securely place the fake tooth over the implant, giving you a realistic replacement for your missing teeth.
Single Tooth Implants
Believe it or not, about 120 million people in the United States are missing at least one tooth. Luckily, there have never been more effective and beautiful replacement options thanks to advances in restorative materials, techniques, and technology. One of our most popular options at SmileCOS Dentistry involves the placement of a dental implant, which we then attach to a prosthetic tooth.

Multiple Tooth Implants
According to American College of Prosthodontists (ACP), roughly 36 million Americans are missing all of their teeth. This figure does not include the millions of people that are missing some of their teeth, but not all. For this reason, we here at SmileCOS Dentistry specialize in multiple tooth implants, which have revolutionized restorative dentistry.

The dental implant process takes place in several appointments. First, if we have not done so already, we must extract the necessary teeth. Sometimes we can place the titanium screws during the same appointment – it depends on the health of your mouth and the situation.
Placing the screws is a surgical procedure that requires anesthesia and plenty of recovery time. During placement of the implants, we cut the gumline and insert the screws. After closing the area up, we place temporary artificial teeth so that you have a functioning mouth while you wait for your jawbone and soft tissues to heal.
After a few months, we can place the abutments on the implants. The abutments are what hold the artificial tooth in place. Once your mouth completely heals, we will take impressions of your mouth and send the molds to our lab. The technicians will make your permanent artificial teeth based on the impressions and the chosen color/shape of your teeth.
At your final appointment, we will place the artificial teeth on the abutments, giving you a full mouth of great looking teeth. Just like any other artificial tooth replacement, you may require a few adjustments to get the perfect fit for your artificial teeth. Our dentists work closely with you to ensure your comfort and satisfaction with the look and feel of the teeth.
Who is a Good Candidate for Dental Implants?
Patients with healthy gum tissue and a strong jawbone (no bone loss) are the best candidates for dental implants. If you have lost a little bit of jawbone, though, you may still be a good candidate – our dentists can assess the situation. Dental implants help prevent further bone loss by stimulating the bone with the titanium screws.
If you have advanced-stage gum disease, cancer, diabetes, smoke, or drink excessively, you may have to look at other tooth replacement options, which our dentists can cover with you. We want you to choose the tooth replacement option that will provide the best outcome for your oral health.
