Sometimes the permanent crown can be made onsite during your appointment, so a temporary crown is not needed. Otherwise, the permanent crown is usually ready within a couple of weeks. You should stay away from sticky or chewy foods until after the permanent crown is placed.
After getting your new crown, make sure to care for your teeth by maintaining proper dental hygiene and taking care to brush and floss the area where the crown meets your gum line. Make sure to schedule regular dental exams, too.
Depending on the type of material your crown is made out of, crowns generally can last five to 15 years, so it's important to have them checked and replaced when needed.
