Preparing For A Tooth Extraction

Posted on 9/19/2022 by SmileCOS Dentistry
Preparing For A Tooth ExtractionBelow we will help you understand all there is to a tooth extraction. Remember to bring a summary of questions you would like to ask at your consultation with your orthodontist or dentist to discuss a dental surgery and bring that list with you. In addition, it is essential to have a comprehensive list of any drugs currently being used so that the dental practitioner can steer clear of any potentially harmful drug interactions.

Your dentist may suggest that you discontinue the use of blood thinners in the time leading up to your visit. Due to this, there will be a lower possibility of bleeding during the surgery. Blood thinners might also be used to extend the healing process after the therapy is finished.

Avoid Eating twelve Hours Before the Tooth Extraction

It would help if you did not consume anything for 12 hours before the procedure. This may lessen nausea both after and during treatment. Ask before the process whether you will need to fast as long as you get a local anesthetic. Let the qualified practitioner know if you have a medical condition, such as diabetes, that prevents you from fasting.

It is also crucial to remember that you must abstain from smoking for 12 hours before and 24 hours after the procedure. In addition, this would be a great moment to stop smoking permanently.
